I am so embarrassed writing this.I've had bladder issues for sometime where I can't reach the toilet in time and leak. However recently a few times its as if my bowel muscles don't work! I've felt a bowel movement but unable to stop it.Luckily its a tiny amount.I'm very upset about this 😞

This is known but not so common in Parkinsons. It is a neurogenic problem, another pd ‘gift’ little known about! Are you on Madopar by any chance? From personal experience sinemet did not do this but madopar did.

Believe me I do understand. It is at least in part to do with nerve signals to the syphincter mscles I think. Do talk to the GP or neuro. There are meds for continence problems (which often help control tremor as well) . They arent my favourite meds but I found after a few months I could wean off them and I was OK. I do notice that changes in my sinimet doses can bring the problem back but it does settle in time. I hope the same applies to you.

Do PM me anytime if you want to know more.

I have the opposite problem - I feel like I need to go - then just end up sitting and waiting. Finding it takes more patience than I am accustomed to.

Since posting the prior comment high dose thiamine (B1) has restored most of lost bowel function.

I have same problem. only take simemet. even have tiny turds fall out sometimes. THIS REALLY HELPS.

Kegel Exercises

Kegel exercises can strengthen the pelvic muscles and ligaments to treat and prevent urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and other problems caused by having weak pelvic floor muscles.

To do Kegel exercises:

Squeeze the same muscles you would use to stop your urine. Your belly and thighs should not move.

Hold the squeeze for 3 seconds, then relax for 3 seconds.

Start with 3 seconds, then add 1 second each week until you are able to squeeze for 10 seconds.

Repeat the exercise 10 to 15 times a session. Do three or more sessions a day.

For best results, more than three sets of Kegel exercises should be done every day.

I DO FIVE SQUEEZES ABOUT 4 TIMES A DAY.

I live with that too with Fibromyalgia and IBS. I think hubby with PD is having it too. He takes basic Carbadopa levadopa and another I always forget. His PD is advancing...balance, freezing, hard to get out of chair, walk around things. He speaks ok but runs out of air so words fade away and I can't hear him..I.can't hear many things in conversations on T.V. or with people. I have to do something. It's made me want to stay away from groups. we do go to a PD support group tho...such a variety of symptoms. I don't have one for Fibro and I've had it longer than he has PD but I like the info we get at the PD group. Next mo will be on Rock Solid Boxing exercise. I hope they'll have a new class closer to us. My hubby will start his PD therapy group in a few months here.. He did well in the last one a year or so ago, featured on a news program. I go and do reclining bike if they'll let me, and read. It's $50,00 a month for 8 sessions. I sure hope it helps him this time. He has gotten more tired and discouraged trying to cope with vertigo and double vision too which came after catarack surgery. I need therapy on hands due to what I've learned is Small Fiber Neuropathy from diabetes and carpal tunnel giving me numbness, pain, tingling, elec. shocks, itching.... and in my feet too but not as bad. I'm afraid of the future taking care of him. Even stirring a bowl of food hurts. He is such a good man and has always taken care of our family. I can't let him down.

I can't say anything which might offer you practical help, but your post has touched my heart & I recognise how hard you are both trying - and by doing so, are staying strong and not giving way. May God bless you with courage.
