Sometimes I think the medicines are worse then the disease. It seems that it takes so long to find the right script and dosage. Many on here are still struggling in fact probably most of us. But, it will work. Yes, the Disease is bad, but that’s why this group is so important, Teafor22. Hang in there! We really care!
Mostly the meds. What are all the meds you are taking, even non-PD meds? Sometimes your body has to adjust to the meds. I think you said you were just diagnosed? How old are you? In reading your last few posts, I think the best thing for you to do is talk with your neurologist and tell them you are not feeling well; nauseated, symptomatic, and feeling down. Some meds work for some and not for others.
Hi. Can meds get use to body and don’t work anymore. ?
Where you live?
yes, it's called tachyphylaxis and it is common for many drugs, especially antibiotics, antidepressants, sleep aids, etc. and probably many Parkinson's meds, etc.
I began taking Azilect only 5 days ago after a DaT scan confirmed Pd diagnosis. It's a disturbingly powerful drug: I felt an interior trembling this morning possibly because I'd waited an extra four hours to take it. I'm 80 and have avoided drugs all my life. Of course I want to stop taking it, but it promises so much....
there is data that shows it is neuroprotective - slows progression. I, too, just started Rasagiline a month ago, but I was diagnosed in July 2011. If I knew then what I know now, I would've started it right away.
Teafor22, I can see your anxiety levels are very high and you are feeling nauseous during the day. Your body will need time to get accustomed to your meds - you don’t say what they are. Some problems, like nausea, improve as you reach the correct dose in your bloodstream.
As your body adjusts to the meds, it doesn’t mean they will stop working for you. It just means that the side effect of nausea wears off.
Chat to your medical team about it.
Initially sinemet gave my husband intense nausea. He now takes an anti nausea medication with each dosage of his sinemet. He rarely has nausea now.
Ask your doctor if this is appropriate for you, as the nausea is just hell.
Also find a Parkinson's support group. These folks can provide you great support.
Good luck.
Just nausea and lethargy after 3 months no acclimatisation to it
