everyone will agree that any amount of exercise is good and probably does slowdown progression and if 30 minutes is the most you can do, keep at it, but if you can, try to increase (to an hour day.)

Do I need to walk fast? I walk with arms swinging.

Studies show that if you're pushing hard results are better

It depends on whether you are walking as fast as YOU can. Do you walk every day? It is recommended that you walk, as fast as you can, every second day for one hour. You will not be able to start off at one hour! It is recommended that you walk as fast as you can for no more than 10 minutes to begin with and build it up by 5 minutes every second week until you are able to walk for one hour. You need go no further. Stick to the one hour, but continue to walk faster and faster.

When you walk fast, your brain produces a substance called GDNF (Glial Derived Neurotrophic Factor). Glial cells are brain cels in the substantia nigra, which is affected by Pd. Neurotrophic means nerve repair or rebuilding and it is a buit-in repair kit for Parkinson's. It does not cure your Pd, it reverses many of the symptoms, as it has with me, and you can stay ahead of the Pd as long as you keep on doing the fast walking.

What would you rather do, take tablets that do nothing for the Pd, while slowly getting worse and worse or do some healthy exercise and slowly get better and better? I have not needed to take any Pd medication since 2002, nor have i had to consult a neurologist during that period. Think how much money I saved and how much benefit I gained.
