Hi everyone,
As you no I haven't been dx yet.
The past few days my walking only sometimes goes into a kind of shuffle and then a hop it's very strange. Would this be common with you all or have some of you got no walking problems.

get dx you may not have pd
Saw my gp a few weeks ago He says it looks like it and sending me to a movement disorder clinic
When I was first diagnosed I had a drag in my leg but the meds helped. Sometimes it seems I can run better than I can walk & I've heard a few other PwP's say that too. I haven't heard of a PwP hopping.
My left side wants to walk but my right side wants to shuffle.
Unfortunately, this does happen. The main thing is that you continue with your walking. Do you use a walking stick? It will help if you have balance problems.
Thanks for the response
I have a stick yes but hate to use it as embarrassed
Please do not be embarrassed because you use a stick. People can understand the need. Many years ago, one of the ladies I knew used a stick, now you can get realy fancy ones. Highly painted. Be proud of who you are, as long as what you do is right and good.
Keep going strong.
Shuffle walking is associated with PD but as mentioned you need to be diagnosed properly. The hop that you mention in between shuffling sounds to me as if it's like what my OH does (he is the Parky not me) it's a quick trip up, shuffling and tripping more then, shuffling and hopping, if that makes sense. X
Thanks for that I don't have a shuffle but a drag then I stop and start it's very confusing
If you don't mind my asking how old are you and where do you live? My OH specialist is excellent, and you need the best, x
Where are you in the world Kempin1969? There are some excellent young Parkinson's networks out there if you get the Parkinson's diagnosis.
Have you seen the trekking poles? they are all the rage over here and not out of place in a young person's hands.
I help run a support group in Cornwall and we have arranged for a trainer to come and do a taster session with the group.
Hi Kempin. No two patients have the same set of symptoms. Walking problems are very common but not everybody has them.
Something that many patients do not know or understand is that Pd affects any or all of the movements we make that we don't have to think about, such as walking , writing, bringing food to our mouth and many, many other movements Those are made subconsciously. By that I mean that we don't have to think about how we walk or how we write, we only have to think about where we want to walk and how fast and what we want to write.
I realized many years ago that I was able to walk properly if I consciously moved my legs instead of willing them to move. I found that I was able to write in block letters instead of in cursive script. I can now perform any movement if I use my conscious brain to do so.
I am currently going all over the English-speaking world to show people how to do this, because I am unable to successfully do so in writing of even in videos.
