Drop items all the time. Trouble with hand and eye coordination. I seem to knock things over constantly.

Does anyone else have these problems. I have not yet been diagnosed with Parkinsons cause my neuro thinks my tremors are from a certain medicine I am taking. I tried to tell the doc Ive had the tremors long before taking the meds, but he just ignored me. I constantly forget what I was saying in mid sentence. The other day I couldnt remember my dogs name. It wasnt as if it was on the tip of my tongue. It was if I never knew his name. I had to ask my wife his name. When I lay down for bed, Imy body goes into a muscle spasm frenzy. My body, legs, arms ect.. begin to jerk uncontrollably. Does any of this sound familiar??

When I went through similar symptoms, the neurologist took me off a medicine that could cause some of the tremors I was experiencing. After a while, I still had the resting tremors and the neurologist put me on Sinemet, which stopped the resting tremors of my hands and neck, and he gave me a PD diagnosis. I did not have uncontrollable jerking, like you, however. Only a qualified movement disorder specialist would be able to correctly identify and diagnose your condition, in my opinion. I would recommend that you get a second opinion, if you are not satisfied with your current neurologist's findings.

Thank you ddmagee1and MotherFather, I am working with VA to allow me to see a neuro outside of the VA. I am weening myself off the medicine the doc thinks is the reason for my tremors. The doc also put me on a medicine that is suppose to help the tremors, it has not. I see Im going to have to jump through their hoops before someone gives me some answers. Thank you to all who replied. God Bless you.

What medicine did he put you on for the tremors?

Propranolol hasnt helped at all.

Sinemet/Madopar has very little risk. If improvement results it confirms PD. Any reason this MD won't prescribe it?

No idea yet, the neurologist in this VA are very condescending. They don't appreciate if questions are asked. They ignore the question and continue doing what they were doing when the question was asked.

Unfortunate. Only thoughts I have are find a different set of docs or find someone to register a complaint with who can command their attention.

I was just reading about Propranolol which my doc put me on for the tremors. It hasn't helped with the tremors. The article I read stated Propranolol actually gives people PD. I was blown away.

Yes! I noted before my PD diagnosis (and even after diagnosis and treatment) that I drop things all the time and still have trouble with hand and eye coordination. I often call me dog my a previous dog's name but quickly correct myself! I especially drop things first thing in the morning before my meds kick in, and later in the evening when meds wear off, or when I am even slightly tired.

Sinemet helps with many of my symptoms, but it simply isn't perfect as it is affected by diet, stress, tiredness, etc. I hope you check with a different neurologist regarding your symptoms if they don't go away soon.

I have found that when I carry a glass, my pinky goes under the glass so it does not slide out of my hand.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Unfortunately I have to go through the VA's protocol before they will send me out to see the correct neurologist. The doc has put me on propranolol for the tremors, which has not helped. I will be completely off the meds the doc thinks is the cause of the tremors in a week. I had to be weened off the meds (cymbalta). I see the other neurologist on the 13th. Unfortunately I had seen this doc years ago when the tremors first began. He had me walk 5 feet and told me I was fine. Appointment lasted less the 5 minutes. Thank you All again for your support. God Bless you All

The clumsiness is very familiar to me. Mine started in 1963, a long time ago. The other symptoms don't necessarily sound like Pd, but could be. The word-finding problem is very familiar. May I ask you, "If you are stuck fr a word and somebody showed you a list of 10 words which contained the word you were looking for, would you recognize it from the list? If so, that is what happens to me.

I dont know if I would recognize the word. I may try that next time. It happens alot so it wouldnt be long. Thanks for the idea.
