I need help. For the past year I have been experiencing high blood pressure on and off . 200 over 100 is not unusual.. it also wakes me up during the night. I have started having some low blood pressure after eating. I am on a beta blocker and Enalapril. I think I'm starting to develop sensitivity to enalapril comma I have pins and needles Sensations my hands my arms and my legs. Any input would be really ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl....

My friend, you need to see either your primary or a cardiologist. That pressure is dangerously high. The risks are stroke, kidney damage and increasing cardiovascular disease. It may or may not be related to pd, but either way, you need a new treatnent. The ones you're using arent working. Be safe!

This looks interesting aspergerian but is beyond my scientific comprehension - are you able to summarise in 'layman's' terms?

Thanks.

parkie13, I replied in more detail.

Tingling is described as a side effect of Enalapril.

I finally stumbled into a way to post the Zarow et al image.

Here are some additional tidbits. And, for a while, I'll stop obsessing about this important topic.

"Thus, cardiac sympathetic denervation in PD occurs independently of

the movement disorder. PD+OH also entails extra-cardiac

noradrenergic denervation, but this is not as severe as in pure

autonomic failure. PD+OH patients have failure of both the

parasympathetic and sympathetic components of the arterial

baroreflex. OH in PD therefore seems to reflect a "triple whammy" of

cardiac and extra-cardiac noradrenergic denervation and baroreflex

failure."

Cardiovascular dysautonomia in Parkinson disease: from

pathophysiology to pathogenesis.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Reported in 2003, "The finding of lower plasma NE [noreipnephrine]

levels in patients with than without supine hypertension suggests

involvement of pressor mechanisms independent of the sympathetic

nervous system."

Association between supine hypertension and orthostatic hypotension

in autonomic failure.

hyper.ahajournals.org/cgi/p...

"Cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction is not confined to moderate to

severe PD patients, and starts early in the course of the disease in

a high proportion of PD patients. In addition, dopaminergic drug

treatments do not affect cardiovascular autonomic function."

Cardiovascular Autonomic Dysfunction in Mild and Advanced

Parkinson's Disease.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/270...

"A feature of an impaired autonomic nervous system are

cardiovascular symptoms, such as orthostatic hypotension (OH) and

supine hypertension, which are common (de Visser et al., 2002).

Cardiovascular symptoms are, besides infections, the most frequent

reason for PD patients being admitted to hospital (Willis et al.,

2012)"

Dear parkie 13,

My mom (diagnosed with PD about 12 years ago) had a similar problem: dangerous fluctuations in BP. Sometimes, it would be 190/110 at 10 am and drop to 60/40 at 12 pm, as an example. I monitored her symptoms and was able to determine a pattern. Her BP fluctuations occurred if she did not have a bowel movement in 3 or so days. She fixed her bowel movement problem as well as her BP problem using a protocol developed by a Russian doctor, Ivan Pavlovich Neumyvakin (which is very easy to follow). She also used a cbd oil supplement, vita laze.

Is there a pattern between your BP fluctuations and bowel movements? If so, the protocol my mom used might be something to consider.

Thank you.

A

Check your blood pressure lying down, setting up and standing.

My mother had issue where her blood pressure I was (is) higher laying. Fair setting and very low standing. . What she has is rare, Multiple System Atrophy-Parkinson's type. MSA-P. Check it out and see if symptoms are similar. The doctors in Arkansas made her worse. There is one in Little Rock who treats but he did not help her. She ended up going to neurolugst in Chicago and she is much better, she still has days but overall her blood pressure is good .

I want to thank you all for the comments. It shows me how complex this issue is. As I said before I have not been going to my neurologist, I guess I'm going to have to make an appointment. Thank you all, now it is making sense. Mary
