Has anyone tried this? I got info on my email saying it's a gadget that emits magnetic frequencies of low intensity in the head which stimulate the natural production of dopamine. Actipulse.com. is this a scam?

I have tried magnetic bracelets, didn't do anything
Please look up information on electromagnetic frequencies - EMFs on the internet and you'll find all kinds of articles warning about dangers of those. Also, there is a good book by Ann Louise Gittleman "Zapped" that I would read before getting any of those gadgets.
We baught it with my sister for my dad who has level 3 Parkinson with tremos on both his hands.
We did not see any improvement the first week, only after 2 to 3 weeks did he start having less tremors and sleep better.
Today (6 months of treatment) he has lowered his medication of Levodopa and has less tremors, the downside being that he needs to take 3 daily sessions.
3 x a day is ok..much better than pills 5 X day. Where did u buy it and how much???. Thx for answering me back!
My husband used rTMS for several years quite successfully. He was getting it for depression but from the first week, his PD symptoms began to diminish...much to the surprise of the doctor. This is not a do it yourself treatment. It must be done by a physician and even so there are varying strengths of the equipment. Some equipment is 'lightweight' and used for depression. We used a doctor who ran the studies for the equipment manufacturer, Brainsway, an Israeli firm which makes a deep brain version of magnetic stimulation. It is controlled by computer and can access various parts of the brain. In my husbands case, they always included stimulation to motor activity and right after, he would love to walk and spent long periods just walking the big parking lot around the doctors office with a smooth gait and plenty of energy.
No one really knows why this works...it may be that PD patients don't have enough dopa and TMS stimulates the cells to make it or maybe that they have dopa but for some mechanical reason, it cannot leave the cells. It is hoped that TMS stimulates the access of dopa regardless of the problem and in our case, it did.
The caveat is that it is not generally covered by insurance, is frightfully expensive and must be used regularly.
