Hi Mary. Welcome to the Pd community. It is no honor having Pd, but the good news is that there is something you can do now to slow down the progression or even reverse it, as I have. Pd starts many years before doctors are able to diagnose it.

My symptoms started in 1963 and I was only diagnosed in 1992, 29 years later. By 2002 I was able to come off my Pd medication and have been off it ever since. I have not needed to see a neurologist since 2003.

You can read all about it if you go to my website - reverseparkinsons.net at no expense to yourself. You an learn about fast walking and the production of GDNF and how that repairs the damaged brain cells.

Good luck!

Hello Mary. I was similar in that I was diagnosed in '14 but remember symptoms for at least 5 years prior to that. What are you experiencing now?

Hi, Mary. I'm new here too. I was diagnosed in 2014, but now recognize symptoms I've had for many years. I'm glad to know what I have and how to combat it!

I combat PD by taking prescribed meds faithfully, exercising regularly, reading, playing my piano, and allowing myself rest when I'm tired, stressed, or out-of-sorts. I do play the PD card when needed! Everyone I love and care about knows and understands.

Combating the pain of rigity, remembering to hold on, preferably to a hand, whenever I go out, and warding off the side effects of Carbidopa Levodopa, with humor. Anyone experience a newly developed compulsivity with upped meds? Doctor told me to look out for it.
