Anyone had problems with very low blood pressure? Could it be the meds or just pd itself. Thanks for your reply.
Blood Pressure: Anyone had problems with... - Cure Parkinson's
Blood Pressure
cshamb i do and it is miserable because it makes me dizzy. In researching this I found that C/l and other PD Meds can cause this. One of the solutions is to drink lots of water. There is a medication for low blood pressure. It retains water in the body, and therefore doctors hesitate prescribing it.
I am going to drink lots of water today to see if that helps.
Keep in touch and let me know how you do.
Peace👍😎
Cshamb, hi, sorry about your low BP. How is it going with you taking mucuna? Are you still with the NOW brand? If so, how much dosage?
Still on the NOW brand mucuna one mid morning one before bed. Doc. said it is common with PD and suggested drinking more water and adding a little extra salt to diet. Mucuna is helping me sleep better and I feel pretty good except when bp gets too low. Two Indian Doctors have told me to take it, it won't hurt. It has been used for years in India for parkinsons. One of the Docs. suggested 2 a day. Wish I could find someone that specializes in this type of med. but for now I will stay on the 2 per day. Stay in touch.
Oh good, someone to compare notes with. My son's neuro (I'm the mom and caretaker) said he had NO PROBLEM with my son taking the Mucuna (MP). He did not offer counsel or guidance. I am grateful for him not being negative. On Aug 11th, I started my son on the Solaray Dopa-Bean (50mg of dopa) along with 2 tabs (200mg) of C/L-dopa. His neuro prescip was 2.5 tabs three times daily and when I added the MP I dropped 1/2 tab of C/L. No changes so increased MP to 100mg (2 capsules) plus 2 tabs of C/L-dopa. He IS improving in his gait and cognitively. I will keep him there for a week or more and then tweak it. I would like to have him take equal amounts of C/L and MP or a little more MP. My son sees his Neuro in Oct. Bailey explained how to send personal message, and from time to time I will do that with you. I did read Maldona's "MUCUNA VERSUS PARKINSON". I find it a bit confusing, perhaps intentional since he does not seem comfortable with anyone doing this without Neuro guidance. Thanks for your quick response.
Dopamine agonists are notorious for causing orthostatic hypotension ("OH") - the failure of the autonomic nervous system to keep proper blood flow to the brain when you stand up. Everyone has felt this briefly upon occasion - feeling lightheaded upon standing. Dopamine agonists("DAs") can even cause outright autonomic failure, where the person cannot stand without fainting. Oftentimes PD is incorrectly blamed for this. If you are taking a DA you cannot quit all at once but must taper off, and make up for the difference with increased carbidopa/levodopa.
I am having terrible attacks of it. Only take c/l 6x day. I find it difficult to walk at times. It's the worst part of Parkinson's.
