Most days i feel like i am on a roller coaster. More highs than lows for now. But always changing. The key lately is to keep busy. Not with my mind but with physical things like mowing, cleaning, painting,repairing and maintaining my cars,any thing using my hands. Seems the old saying is true idle hands are the devils work shop (Parkinson's work shop).

Have you always felt that way or do you think it is the PD and/or the meds?
PD and meds. Before Pd i was as stable as one could be. I adapted very quickly and embraced change.
You seem to be awfully strong & confident. Have you tried an anti-depressant to smooth out the ups & downs?
No. Not really bad mental lows just annoying and i have a great wife who is a great support. The lows are also when my meds don't work as planned due to wrong food or just don't work right. Just wish i could find a happy medium. I have always been strong & confident. Had no choice with no dad a distant mom. No one to do it but me. And add to that a way of seeing around corners and good problem solving skills.

Hi Bailey. You are spot-on with keeping busy, but don't forget that Pd is all in the BRAIN and the brain needs exercise as well. Our abilitiy to remember is one of our biggest challenges and regularly doing brain exercises to build our abilty to remember is absolutely essential. Also our ability to work things out (Problem sleve) come a pretty close second to memory.

John , that is very wise and something that has not been discussed here a lot. We need to have examples of how one can exercise the brain. For some reason my wife makes all the decisions now. I just wish she would tell me what is going on so I would not look so dependent. I have to cut back on "I don't know ask your mother"
The suggestion about keeping busy is good but not that difficult, any one of the things you mention will take me all day to accomplish. I try anyway, but I need something more meaningful. Something that brings in money would be good. Any body have any ideas?

I find being outside away from the computer and tv is a good start. No cell phone also.
my kids rely on me to fix everything from cars to hot water heaters and that helps.
The one thing that also helps is every thing i do is at my pace no dead lines no pressure. Can't deal with stress.
How old are your kids.
Besides doing all that, I'm addicted to Code Crackers and Crosswords......can spend most of the day on these.....actually still very house proud so do have to get that out of the way first. Also, lots of organisations here where I live in Queensland have Trivia Nights and I go to as many as I can.......always loved History and quiz shows so it's no big deal to do these activities..
Music just changes my mood completely too and have it on consistently making it impossible to just sit so I do enjoy my solo dancing but not sure whether it exercises the brain but good for my mobility.
Started on a Pro Biotic for good gut health as there is a connection to Brain Good Health......easy
In depth discussions with spouse and/or friends, on whatever, also is very rewarding
and informative.....always learn something new.

Life with PD sure can be challenging!
I read something yesterday that is stuck in my mind. Early on in life, we disconnected from our bodies. To the point that we don't know what the body is trying to let us know.
An illness is an opportunity to get acquainted with the body. Learning its language and how to understand it.
I have let my thoughts lead, and they have not always been beneficial.
I play LUMOSITY for brain exercise.
Chi Gong chanting every day puts me in touch with the body.
I don't want what I have written so far to disappear, so I am going to post this.
