Ok with vivid dreams but now they are often scary and weird. I think its from the neupro patch. anyone have this happen? Thx D
You are describing REM sleep behavior disorder, possibly a PD symptom. Nothing to do with Neupro. I had REM long before I was diagnosed with PD and before I had the Neupro patch. I recommend you see a sleep specialist. My dreams are completely under control. Best of luck.
Thank you for your reply nancyclist, I do have REM sleep disorder and take klonopin for a long time now. Going to talk with neuro this month about meds. Its like what comes first the chicken or the egg. The sleep disorder, PD, patch, requip or a combo causing the dreams. Best D
I also found that with Neupro Patches the dreams were much worse.
i have neupro patches for about 5 years and never had bad dreams
I scream out in my sleep due to vivid scary dreams....has been happening for 18 months...docotr says it is due to not enough dopamine...since being ion carbidopa levodopa it has been happening less.
My husband had this problem long before he was even diagnosed but got worse as he progressed , he is on Sinemet and was the neupro patch changed recently to Roprinirole . He got so bad thrashing and throwing himself about confused and hallucinations . I have stopped the Roprinirole . what a difference No swollen feet , much more relaxed and no confusion .
It's very early days nd I don't count my chickens watch this space will keep in touch . His head is much much clearer . and no sudden dropping off . Not calling me all the time or worrying obsessively ..
So glad to hear you used your own judgementand stopped the med. My husband had hallucinations, confusion and disorientation with Neupro (of courseon a weekend) and I stopped it too. Spoke to the neurologist and he said to do the same thing. We are learning that PD control is trial and error, that things change often and nothing is forever. Thanks for sharing.
Thats great, Im glad he is doing well. The requip does still make me sleepy but, im to stiff to work without it. Take care, D

Its not easy to give a straightforward answer to your question, are these hallucinations or REM sleep disorder? My understanding is both PD and meds can cause hallucinations including dopamine agonists. You may find some earlier threads useful. Here is a link.
I have vivid dreams some scary and most weird. Diagnosed 7 years ago MD says the meds, are the problem. Should write a book could be a best seller in Weird.
Yes and I took patch off at night until the bad dreams ended.
I have been on Neupro forever but it has never caused me to have that problem however other medications such as Requip have?
it's such a minefield isn't . We go into it blind and put our trust in the professionals who have very limited time to spend with us . They are dealing with such a complex illness in as much that no one person is the same .
Hindsight is everything. I so wish that I knew when we first started how the meds could affect you . generally when you read the instructions that come with the meds they all say much the same thing .
Wished I had trusted my first gut feeling . Onward and upward ..
It is indeed. I went to two neuros, two mds and had a dat scan to come to the realization I had PD, even though everything physically pointed towards it. Very hard to know what to do.
Thank you for your responses. I do also have REM sleep disorder and find myself standing or on the side of the bed. I take klonopin but still yell out and act out in my sleep. I was dx with REM before PD after many concerns from family and a sleep study. I was on requip and still take 2mg of it a day in addition to the neupro patch. So not sure if its the REM problem, requip or the patch. I am going to start by taking patch off at night as landman had suggested and see if that helps. As dbean says we could write a book with these dreams. Thank you all! D
