My husband had very dry skin that would peel off his face. He had to constantly apply moisturizer. I finally found a lotion from Yves Rocher that solved his issue. It is called Amande Almond moisturizer. It is all botanical. I also found shampooing his scalp with a dandruff shampoo keeps the scalp in much better condition. The website for Yves Rocher is yves-rocher.com

PD people are prone to dermatological conditions.

Yes, "dry" scalp is quite common among PwP. I am told that it is caused by failure of PD skin cells to slough off all dead tissue. It responds to a variety of skin products, but I found one that works well for me and had another surprising result. Nine months after first using Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion, my old bald head still has dry skin, but has grown back an estimated 20% of its hair. ( I have no stock in the Nivea Co.)

If your husband has any history of skin cancer, the patches of dry scalp sometimes look similar to actinic keratosis, a pre-cursor for some carcinomas.

Wishing you well.

My scalp started to get very dandruffy until I got settled into taking Pramipexole. Now completely clear of dandruff/

I have had this condition for over 30 years. I now wash my hair every day, and once a week with Ketoconazole shampoo. I apply daily hair oil while wet, it helps keeps the scalp moist also.

I use a cream moisturiser on the face every day after shaving, and weekly use a Basil and Walnut scrub (it has bits of powderd shell in it) to de slough the skin. when it is inflamed I use a steroid cream.

It is exactly how you describe red and mottled.

The interesting thing is if this condition is part and parcel of PD, then which came first the PD or the skin problem?

Certainly makes you think doesn't it?

Yes, that and the constipation makes me think I had PD all my life but it didn't become a 'MOVEMENT DISORDER' until I was 62!

I find that rotating three different OTC scalp & dandruff shampoos has helped my husband with his itchy scalp. He needs to shampoo daily due to oily hair folicules.

I have the problem with my lower legs, dry skin and a tendency to damage very easily if I bump into anything (frequently). I have also developed a rash on my chest and I have noticed some small lumps on the scalp.

I put these down to age, I am 78, and didn't think it was the PD. But I guess some of it could be due to PD. Having said that, the treatment would still be the same, I don't think any additional PD meds would make any difference. In this case we just have to treat the symptoms, not the cause.
