Absolutely not. The active ingredient in coconut oil which gives rise to an increase in serum ketone levels is MCT oil, not to mention the very valuable Lauric acid, neither of which is present in coconut water.

Agree......but I have noticed an improvement of symptoms while drinking coconut water. I noticed this a few years ago before even hearing about the benefits of coconut oil. I know coconut water is high in potassium.....which does alleviate cramping. Has anyone else noticed any improvements from coconut water?

I just started drinking coconut water and I believe you are correct about seeing some benefits. But remember while potassium is good for you too much can be a problem for someone with kidney disease and coconut water is very high in potassium.

this is why you should discuss any changes with one's doctor or a trained nutritionist. We need potassium, calcium, magnesium....I can't stand when I see people buying mineral supplements and vitamin and who know little to nothing about what they are doing.

By the way, more evidence is being published that the daily vitamin pill does nothing to improve health outcomes.

See Dr. Mary Newport's article on "Diet Guidelines". She gives a great explanation of various coconut products for therapeutic purposes.

No. Lots of quality difference between coconut water and coconut oil.
