Has anyone been using Clozapine for Pd hallucinations ?

I have been in hospital for 6 weeks, hallucinations 24/7. My treatment began with my Pd meds being lowered or stopped. Then I was given Clozapine after other antipsychotic meds didn't help. I'm very worried as it can have a very bad effect on the white blood cells.

Have you been tested for a urinary tract infection? Sometimes that can also cause hallucinations.

It's the best of the treatments there is for these problems. Quetiepine and rivastigmine are the only other choices. Clozapine is usually only available through the psychiatrist but is very effective

I'm just a bit worried about the white cell damage, but your right the clozapine has cleared most of hallucinations. I'm left with the weird sensation as if I was on a boat, or like on a lift, which throws my balance out.

Hi, I was discharged on the 03/01/2014, from UCLH. When I look back at my last weeks turning into months. I'm lucky, I met a lot of wonderful, gifted, kind and caring people, I could go on and on. But very special friends. I'm attending 3 times a week as an outpatient. Blood test every 7 days, due to Clozapine can play with white blood cells.but every day without the hallucinations is a good day.

Hi I'm on clozapine for schizophrenia. I get my blood, blood pressure & weight taken at my clinic every two weeks. Then I get my clozapine in a couple of days time.

I would not recommend staying on the clozapine. maybe you need to see a good naturopath who would use more alternative treatments. This drug is obviously not good for your body and is doing it much ill. My father has pd and he is on a low dose of leva dopa but taking organic coconut oil has helped him most of all. Turmeric is also helpful. Stay away from sugar for this disease and consume much healthy fats such as coconut oil ( organic) olive oil and avocadoes. Get alot of omega three fatty acids into your diet. God Bless!

Also, it sounds like your former meds may have been discontinued too quickly.

Hello sandralee5

You make the point about staying away from sugar for this disease (PD). Would you please explain the adverse effects that sugar has on the symptoms of Parkinson's?

Regards

Norton

Thanks for your reply, I tried the naturopathic route many years ago, I'm sorry to say it didn't work for me.

i am a psychiatrist with vast experience with clozapine The decrease in WBC is very rare. It can be detected very early if u keep to the schedule of blood tests. U should speak to ur doctor about ur concerns At first u will need weekly blood tests but the frequency eventually decreases With the curent system of monitoring, agranulocytosis the complication u are worried about, has become more of a nuisance than a dangerIF

U FOLLOW THE SCHEDULE OF BLOOD TESTS

You should have your blood checked every two weeks. I'm on clozapine &I get my blood taken every two weeks.
