Yup, just seems to go with the territory. Chew gum to help from drinking so much during the day but not always helpful.

This might sound crazy but I read about eliminating plaque by brushing teeth with coconut oil. Much to my surprise it also relieved my dry mouth at night. Not totally eliminated but much better. Also holding a slice of fresh ginger between my cheek and gums all night really helps.

Dry mouth and the bad side of it. Losing teeth.

An awful dry mouth in the night having to drink water all the time.

I will try the coconut oil brushing of teeth and report back

yes, I suffer too. Chewing Gum helps - as does drinking lots of water but that exacerbates the urgency to urinate!

A lady in a previous thread said hat she drinks water laced with coconut oil. I'm going to try that plus brushing my teeth with it and report back

I'm going to also look into snorre's gadget

Thanks for raising the issue salon and thanks guys for such useful tips

As we speek i'll give some other advices:

1) If you get sick in the stomage in the morning taking your medisin (sinmeth) start by taking 1/2 tablett, eat your breakfest (1/2 hour) and then take 1 tablett.By doing this i never get sick. The rest of the day there is no problem taking a full tablett.

2)Sleep naken (this is serious)

It is unnaturial in the beginning (first month) but as you get used to it there is no way back. But you have to be 100% naken, nothing on the body.It is ofcause terrible cold the first 20 sekonds.

Why doing this?

a) It is mutch warmer

b) it is mutch easy'r to change posision and you will change sleeping-position more often during the nigth

Try it and you will se what i mean.

3) Sleeping problems?

One reason is dopamin agonist

If you are using neupro, remove it from your skin 1 hour before you get to sleep and i can garenti you will be suprised next morning.

my docter in norway was not agreed in the start , today he is using the metod not only by those that cannot sleep but also those the other way around, those that is sleepy threw the day. Theese last's to remove neupro in the morning and put it on in the evning.

all the best

mine is not dry mouth but rather wet with drooling

My husband has that problem and the dentist told him to use Biotene toothpaste to brush with and Biotene mouth wash to gargle with and to chew gum. He also drinks lots of liquid. It seems to work so far but that could change.

Salon,

I use coconut oil. I take a 1/4 of a teaspoon whenever I have dry mouth at night. It also helps with acid reflux. You may not need the same dosage as I do. So use more or less until you get it. Good luck.

Yes, and it,s almost surely a side effect of your meds. I take 2 Artane twice a day and I'm almost certain that it's the cause of my dry mouth.

I put sugar free lrg. size individually wraped lifesavers. I prefer wintergreen, but there is peppermint, and spearmint. Just a suggestion. And they travel well.

i have a very bad case of dry mouth, and i have a sour lemon drop going in my mouth on all waking hours.

but i find that if i keep my mouth. and night i have learned to keep my mouth shut. they have to be sour though.

there seems to be an awful lot of problems that go with parkinsons.

To be able to keep the mouth shut during sleeping you have to be able to breath threw the noese.

Anytime you are taking multiple meds, the body tries to flush them out. Drink lots of water during the day and slow down in the evening (or have to wake up several times at night). Coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks act as a diuretic so end up making you feel thirstier.

PD does come with "an awful lot of problems" but it's good to see the sharing here on how to deal with them!!

Don't forget to check your blood sugar levels just in case it's something else like diabetes.

I know how miserable you feel. I've recently discovered that sipping water with coconut oil helps much more than water alone. Just recently I've discovered a new product that is really great called OraMoist Dry mouth patch. Its a time release tab that sticks to the roof of your mouth and adds moisture gradually over a period of a few hours. My daughter bought some for me from America. I don't know where else it is availalble. When I wake in the night with my mouth totally try I rub Biotene dry mouth gel on the inside of my mouth and works better than sipping water. I used to chew gum all the time but my mouth got too sore I've stopped that. Rinsing my mouth with water and coconut oil has healed my sore mouth.
