AZILECT. Does anyone on here use the gene... - Cure Parkinson's
AZILECT. Does anyone on here use the generic drug for azilec, (rasilect) I have been looking into it online and it is so much cheaper to buy
There is no generic for Azilect. Teva managed to extend the patent on a technicality. I've been down this road since I "need" my Azilect - I've been on it alone for 2 years with great result.
I never heard of RAZILECT? Could be a scam?
It is manufactured by Sun pharmaceuticals . They are advertised for sale on most of the Canadian pharmacy sights, dont think it's a scam.
Not a scam. I have been on it and buying from Canada for a couple of years. The copay for Azillect is astronomical and the generic version Razilect works just as well, never even noticed the change.
name of canadian pharmacy please.
The generic is known both as Rasalect and Rasagiline. It is manufactured by Sun and is available here:
I agree with Bitbit........... I would not even try anything but the true Azilect. I call it my miricle drug!!!!!! Thank you Israel and Teva pharmaceutical !!!!
There will not be a generic until February 2012, that is when the patent expires.
It is important not to confuse rasagiline with generic Azilect; rasagiline is the active ingredient in Azilect, not a generic version of it.
not a scam, the scam is the insurance companies allowed to price it any way hey want! I've been using the generic from Canada for years - with my drs blessing
Neither have I heard of it. Check it our on Scopes or Google

Hope you find this helpfull.
can united states doctors fax rx to canadian pharmacies? in ny doctors now have to send direct to pharmacy.
So interesting, I did some reading. Apparently it is manufactured in India. Would you trust it? Azilect keeps my quality of life high, I'd be afraid to experiment.
All the ingredients seem to be the same. and I find it hard to think that the Canadians would endorse it, if it were dodgy. Lets face it. Indians are amongst the top doctors in the world.
I have purchased several name brand and generic drugs through the years from a Canadian drug company. Canada had the generic version of Lipitor several years before the patent or whatever expired in the US. Our insurance co-pay for 90 day supply was $130 (40 mg). I could get a 90 day supply for $110 (80 mg) in Canada. Split them in half and we had a 180 day supply for $110.
Azilect was day and night difference for me. I was able to get it free from the manufacturer. I now hav e medicaid which actually pays for it. Even though it has many contraindications, I would be scared to death to go off of it
All my husbands other medication is free in Cyprus, but, Azilect would cost over 400 /Euro for one months supply. Very expensive.
What kinds of contraindications?
Azilect is an MAO Inhibitor. No cold or cough meds, many other meds, picked or aged foods or cheeses. I always look up a medication before I take it to make sure it is not contraindicated. You can go to WebMD and look up the medication and see what is contraindicated with it or ask your pharmacist.
That should have been pickled!
Love auto correct! Ps, my neurologists aren't too worried about interactions. I am on Zoloft and eat whatever I want with the azilect, no problems.
I did take amitryptiline for sleep, I did not have problems until about a year after starting azilect. Suddenly, problems developed and I had to stop taking the amitryptiline.
My husband eats whatever he wants, no problems, as yet.
Right. The cheese / tyrosine prohibition is a leftover from the days of general MAO inhibitors. The MAO-B inhibitor is sufficiently specific that it does not cause a problem with cheeses and other sources of tyrosine.
I have researched the dextromethorphan (cough syrup) prohibition, and it is not clear whether that should still apply to the MAO-B inhibitors. It, too, may be a holdover but I have not had the nerve to test that personally.
When I have spent my Medicare drug allowance for the year.....which usually happens around this time,I get my meds through the Canadian Pharmacy. I get Rasilect, carbidopa and pampexiole.I have found them to be safe and effective. Also they are way much less expensive
Wow Brooke so you have been on both name brand and generic razilect and don't notice a difference? Just as helpful?
I get my azilect free of charge, and can't think of why you can't get it free, as well. Call teva, and ask them to send you document to get the drug free of charge. toll free number for teva is 1-866-217-7163. hope this helps.
I have not but I have friends that have used it and it was just fine. My wife gets my drugs from Northwest pharm in Canada
Regards
ERIC.
No generic for Azilect available in US. Talk to your neurologist, the manufacturer does offer financial assistance based on income. I couldn't afford mine without help.
i have a drug plan and cost of azilect went from $80 to $400+ in one month.so i had to switch.
i used cipa.org which licenses canadian pharmacies. i am using rasigilene and believe this is good because the rest of the world is using it. but that said ... the question for us in usa is finding the legitimate pharmacy to get the real rasigilene. two senators R/D in usa are working on capping rx costs. i wish in the usa some informed authority would list legitimate online pharmacies out of usa.
I use it and it's 1/3 the price from Canada and works just swell - still not cheap by any means but better. 1-800-891-0844. I also get generic Viagra for way less!
very disappointed in so many false posts here. THERE IS A GENERIC AND IT WORKS. Just can't buy any in the states. I've had PD for as long as Michael J. Fox, we are th same age too - I know what I'm talking about
I asked the original question. Just want to let you all know that now, in the UK, they are prescribing a generic of this drug. Our friend came to visit us in Cyprus and he showed us the generic versions, two different ones have been prescribed to him, both rasagilne 1mg.
