Guilt is a useles thing, when you spend to much time in the past, your trip over your feet moving towards the future! Let go and live your life! I have Parkinson it doesn't own me, Yes it sucks to have PD but it is what you do with it that counts. God Bless you...hold your head high and step towards your future, Write down 5 things a day you're thankful for not matter how small or big, try this for 1 month in a journal for your eyes only. Then go back a read what you wrote, I know life will feel differant PEACE!!

YEs, I completely understand. My mom needs me, my kids need me, but I can't be with my mom because I'm not physically able, my kids don't want to be caretakers, not that I want them to be, so I have to be strong and happy and take care of myself. I have to get rid of the 'shoulds' and the 'have tos' and give myself permission to enjoy my day and fight to do what I can and what I choose. Enjoy your kids before they're grown and gone.

What do i feel guilty about?..Well lots of things, but I am glad to say I have worked thru most of them and do feel lighter, though the fact, that it has been added to my family tree coos of me ( i understand, it is not my fault:)) but i dread to think that my kids might be susceptible to it..oh well....as u said...there are many if only's but certain things are not within our control:)

Hello SuKas

I think that guilt is something many of us have felt especially when thinking of the past. I have come to terms with my 'mistakes', by no longer seeing them as 'mistakes', but as learning lessons. Given my knowledge and experience when these events happened led me to the actions that I made at those times, but having learnt from them I make better choices now. I'm sure you any everyone else are the same. As for the future, why worry about it; human nature has a tendency to fear the worst, but you will know that life doesn't pan out as we think. As for our children, when they are older, they too, will live their lives which will always bring them consequences just as it has for us. For me, that has been an important lesson that has taken me a long time to realise.

Thank you for writing...My sense of guilt as I was diagnosed 3hen i was 36, am 45 now, was more as a loss of support for my husband and my kids who were 2 and 5 then...Combine in denial, meds side effects etc I was an emotional basketcase...Finally worked through some of it.... Sense of humor and a positive attitude helps:)))) as well as the support of u all who are in the trenches:))

Why feel guilty? You did not ask for Parkinsons and unfortunately, it is here to stay. I sent a saliva sample to 23 and Me to see if I carried the gene to pass on to my family. Thank goodness I do not. It just chose me at random. We all cope with Parkinsons in different ways, after all we are all different and no two people have exactly the same symptoms. But we all help each other through the difficult times and that has to count for something. We are not alone
