Is anyone else still dissatisfied with the new improved setup for this website?

For instance when you first get the News Feed screen, how do you get anywhere else? This whole mess is the best example I ever saw of the saying that if something isn't broken, you should not try to fix it. What was wrong with the previous arrangement for this website?

I agree with you. I liked the other web site format better.

I AGREE WITH YOU ALICE BUT I CANT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF LOSING CONTACT WITH ALLL MY FREINDS

I find it clunky. For instance, the log button is way over on the right and at the sign up form seems to pre-dominate. In any case I can't get to respond to people's comments without figuring out what to do technically before I get started.

This question started a firestorm, I love it when we Parkies get angry. I'm so moved I might even attempt to smile again...

Hi parkie-Al

This is the first time I have been able to log onto this site in well over a month. I thought that Big Pharma had nobbled it. It will now take me months to catch uip with everything, if I can get back on it again. Quite frankly it STINKS!

I couldn't agree more. The other site was much easier to use and I am not going to use this one as I don't understand it, or have the time or inclination to learn. I will miss all the friends I have made.

hello court plese dont leave the site - i am sure you will get used to it xx

Hi Sharon. How are you getting on? No, I won't leave the site. I would lose contact with so many friends, although there are not so many of us still posting. I still can't use this site easily. It is possible to use it, but it takes too long to find what you are looking for that I usually give up. I intend to wait and see what, if any, changes are made. So many people saying the same thing. We can't all be wrong. Take care xxx

ps i am glad they seem to have fixed the problem with the replies

Same here. I think they have ruined what was a perfectly good site. I dont see the regulars on anymore.

utterly pointless being registered

It has taken me five weeks to reconnect to this site, but with help from the engineers the link has been made. I only hope that those of us who have had these unwelcome problems persist because this website is a good one.

Jash profile image

I agree... Sometimes the site is not readable at all. It seems like a lot if regulars have dropped out and I don't enjoy participating as much because its become more difficult to do so. We have enough challenges to deal with; this should be a place of refuge-- not another frustration

DeParkiePoet profile image
DeParkiePoet

I've given up responding to this website because it is too, too difficult to navigate. I need ease of operation not more complication in my Parkie-filled life...

I'm fairly tech-savvy, but it is way too cumbersome to want to work with....

We have enough difficulty in our lives already.

You have not treated us with respect or consideration.

Your arrogance told you this site needed upgrading. How much research did u do with the members?

You have spoilt something that was important to a vulnerable group.

You are excellent at apologising. I expect you have had a lot of practise.

I am angry about your behaviour and the harm it has done.

Please consult, listen, suggest, listen again more carefully, propose, check and then take action.

Finally please do not carry on in this high handed, rude, crude and ignorant manner elsewhere.

I agree too!

I know what to do when and if I choose to go in but the other site was much more user friendly and now I find, someone is deciding which questions?/topics id be interested in rather than just letting me in to browse so I can make those decisions. I find most days, I just dont bother which is really sad because this was and still is an excellent resource for a really friendly and well informed group of people trying to manage their symptoms.

sharong profile image
sharong

This is much more than a dislike of change.

You trampled over one of the few good things for us.

We are allowed to want something in our lives to be stable and familiar.

Your judgement is not ours.

You do not know what is good for us! We shake but we are not weak or lacking opinions. We know what is best for us. Sharon Goodyer

Yes, I agree with everyone that the website has drastically changed for the worse and it is to hard to get into. Sometimes I can't even access it or it comes up with nothing but gibberish. I doubt that I will use it any longer unless they make it simpler or go back to the way it was in the beginning. Sometimes new ways are as good as the old ones.

ldq1997 profile image

Yes. I got a couple of those gibberish messages and there is no way of responding to them to say What Is This?

Yes, Yes, Yes! :-( :-( To put it bluntly THIS NEW IMPROVED SITE SUCKS! It is sad because I really enjoyed connecting with everyone and learning from all. I am fairly tech savy but I don't have the time or the energy to spend at the computer to learn something new (severe neck pain). Come on HEALTH UNLOCKED please, PLEASE, please bring back the old format.

To Health Unlocked;

As you can see by the overwhelming response, your new software is not user friendly. If you purchased this from a vendor you wasted money. If this was done in house then get the teckies to fix the numerous problems. An email from you explaining what's going on and what is going to be done would be appreciated. Remember, we Parkies are your customers! Don't ignore us!

Jon: I would think that they are committed to this new format. And I believe that the best thing they can do is provide a simple but comprehensive tutorial on how to work-around the many obstacles we've encountered.

WHOA.... WHOA.....I too have found this site difficult to access & navigate BUT it is worth persevering for all the reasons we used the old one. My virtual friends, on whom I rely for information, experience & support, who keep me sane I met on Parkinsons Movement. One of the wisest of these Sharon (Shasha) has hit the nail on the head: until this glitch we have had the freedom to share whatever we decided with minimal interference. WE ARE the site.

What a privilege!!

I've lost sight of the number of blogs, websites, support organisations I've joined in the 9 years since dx - this is the only one I use regularly BECAUSE we are the site.......until now. That's what is causing the animosity - we have been disenfranchised. The site is no longer ours: we are not the site.

Perhaps the powers that be will take this on board, go right back to the start & ask US how we feel about the site, whether or not we would like changes & if so involve us in the process. Please GIVE US BACK OUR SITE.

I agree too - I've just been trying to respond to a message, and on logging in found that I had been directed away from that particular message. I wanted to reply to a message the other day but in the end just gave up ... was starting to think that I wouldn't bother any more ..... I do hope someone who can do something about this is taking note.

Also - in the email alert, I like to see ALL the latest messages, not someone else's choice -- I don't understand why this is thought to be an improvement.

The new format is definitely NOT user-friendly .. I do not enjoy the new format, and it takes too much effort to glean any information or respond to questions .. I have enjoyed this site for 3 years .. Now it is a nuisance to work around

This business of releasing bug fixes in dribs and drabs is not the way it's supposed to be done.

If a build of software is badly received with bugs all over and changes that turnout to be not what the customer wanted. Then reload the previous version (you must always be able to go backwards) this is where configuration control is vital. Then work on bug fixes, essential updates etc. Document changes and thoroughly test changes and have a big release of properly designed and tested software and do this once every 6 months at best and probably better to have 1 release a year apart from absolutely essentioal changes. And don't include any changes in function without full consultation with customer including plans for work needed, changes properly specified and documented and those works being paid for by the customer in accordance with agreed and documented functional changes. That is don't allow the customer to keep adding change upon change for free without control, agreement, renegotiated fees etc etc. Your customer might be always right but he still needs to be controlled and constrained.

I feel the same as everyone. It's just to exhausting to use this website there seems to be too many areas that either have dissapeared or pop up when you don't want them...

Why aren't the designers of the site getting back to us?...

Mimacarr profile image

Totally agree - half the time the posts are all computer numbers and obviously programming commands and unreadable. Then it constantly keeps asking me to sign in to read every comment.. It sends me emails and then wont let me read them. too much hassle if you aer having a bad day!
