After sitting and standing, my legs frequently freeze for second before starting to move. Is there anyone experiencing freezing for seconds before moving their legs? If so please share your hints and tips. Thank you.

Have you tried the counting or singing methods for getting your legs going again? You could also try putting your weight from one foot to another twice before trying to step forward. Some people use music with a beat to help them get going although this might depend on whether you are at home or not. Also you could step up an imaginary step before following through with the step forward.

I am sure there will be many suggestions for you to try. Best wishes,

Sue

Oi you there at the front - speed it up a bit.

Something like that would be certain to make me freeze for what would seem like forever.

For me gait freezing is quite different and is accompanied by a fair degree of fear. That is fear of falling and the damage that my well result. Stiffness is an entirely separate matter.

I was having painful freezing in the abdomen and thighs. Then I realized I was not following the med schedule my doctor had written for me. It's hard to medicate 6 times a day because have to eat snack but hey, worth it so far.

Yes. Before I freeze my legs are weak w/pain. Sometimes I fall as I stand up. The

toes are the first to fold almost under my feet. ~~~Dennis

Yes, I freeze up, or feel like me feet are nailed to the floor. This generally happens when I am having issues with my meds waring off. I breath deeply, relax and concentrate and try envisioning lifting my leg and taking a long step. I often feel nailed down once I have started movin too.

I have gait freezing problems, usually for more like 30 seconds rather than one.

Get some decent medication in the form of Sinemet, Madopar and or Stalevo but something with Levodopa in it. This woks for me.

There are some and here I am thinking of a couple of people in the USA on another forum who suffered complete paralysis except for being able to move their eyeballs. This would happen for several hours maybe 2 or 3 times a week. This problem has been eliminated completely by having a DBS operation.
