Oh why is this disease

eating aay at me

How I wish it would go away

and leave me be...

I am facing it with a smile

and I hate the word "disease"

Yes its an illness that`s true

but just say "parkinsons" please...

You invaded my life

without so much

as a please or thankyou

It was October 2011

how very dare you!!...

The fight goes on

of that you can be sure

Maybe one day by a miracle

there will be a cure...

Laughter is the best medicine

is what I firmly believe

To get me through the day

Oh what a relief....

I am part of an awesome community

of that there is no doubt

The stories, the jokes and anecdotes

just makes me want to shout

"THANKYOU ALL FOR BEING THERE!"

Over and out.......

Love to you all

Andy xx

Andy,

Well said.. Thanks for sharing. I have had Parkinsons now for alomost 4 years. I too hate the word disease!! Parkinsons is enough. I take one day at a time. Humor is the best medicine. I have good days(considering) and not so good days. I press on. I work out 2 times and get massage therapy twice a month. Again thanks for your post. It mirrors my life.

Thanks Andy for the poem, after reading all the comments, I think you've touched everyones emotions about this illness,

Very good poem Andy. I also dislike and don't use the 'd' word. I don't like being described as 'ill' or having an 'ilness' as I think I'm very healthy,(for my age!!) apart from that silly starter motor in my brain.
