has anyone experienced freezing as the main symptom of your PD? Do you fall backwards or forwards?

When first standiing up...getting out of the car...have to wait a moment b4 trying to walk. I used to fall forward (because of my weight.) Have lost 40 lbs...it sure has helped with balance and movement. SallyS

I freeze often when starting to walk, gitting in and out of a car, or getting up. Not my main symptom, but it is there. Physical therapy, exercise and meds help. I will fall in almost any direction, but most easily backwards. When walking, if i freeze, taking one step back first sometimes breaks the freeze. Lots of exercise helps with both balance and muscle control. Rambling, so hope this is helpful.

Gait freezing is a major problem for me!!! I cannot begin to tell you. I am in a study with the Mayo Clinic using a laser on a walker to help eliminate the gait freezing. Works like unbelievable!! But without the laser, it all comes back. Laser does not work in sunlight so when I am outside walking I have the freezing still but for indoors and overcast days or nights it fantastic. As for falling, backwards when I go. Not fun!!!

I am including a link to a video that the Mayo Clinic made of me using the laser and showing how it makes your brain work different.
