I would suggest a book by Geoffrey & Lucille Leader -Reducing Symptoms with Nutrition & Drugs - available through Amazon. Tony x

I have a low protein - high carb diiet as I heard that too much protein affects the action of most PD drugs. Unfortunately I can not lose any weight with it!

You can try sipping on Ensure between meals. There are 2 types~ look for the one with higher carbs and lower protein.

Good foods to build your meals around are oatmeal at breakfast and brown rice mixed with veggies and a very small amount of chicken or eggs. Red meat takes a long time to break down in your digestive tract and so could have more affect on the absorption of your meds.

I would "ask the nutritionist" at forum.parkinson.org/ ...the NPF site. Kathrynne is very helpful with such questions :)

I have just been diagnosed with diabetes and foods I should eat to control this should not always be eaten with my meds for Parkinsons. The dietician for diabetes is going to see what I should and should not eat. I will post her results should anything interesting show up.

I cannot lose any weight whatever I try.

My doc suggested looking into the Mediterranean diet when I asked him the same question. I am taking Sinemet certain proteins can block Carbo from taking levodopa across the blood brain barrier to reach the brain. Not all protein is bad you have animal protein, plant proteins.
