Yes, I was prescribed it for pain and numbness in my toes after a bad bout of sciatica. It worked very well but after a two weeks, I became allergic with a heavy rash and my GP stopped it. That was then end of lyrica for me sadly. I know of others with PD for whom it works very well with no serious side effects so good luck if it works for you.
I took Lyrica for a few months & it worked quite well BUT I piled on weight (nearly 3 stone) before we worked out the cause. It may be just my reaction but at least you can keep an eye on the scales. Hope all goes well for you.
Cymbalta seemed to help my husband for nerve pain, sciatia.
there's an entry here on PD, pain, depression written by Dr. James Friedman of Butler Hospital. It is about 8 entries down.
I tried Lyrica and it was working very well, one of the few "pain killers" that actually seemed to kill the pain. And then the other shoe dropped. It interacted with my PD meds and I had a frightening bout of hallucinations. That was my first experience with hallucinations and I pray to God I never have it again. I obviously had to stop taking it and the pain came right back. My neurologist tells me that although he has seen this from time to time, it usually works out fine, and that any one of my meds could cause it alone. I sure hope not It was really scary. On the one hand, I knew that these "people" weren't really there, but on the other hand, they were so real. Makes you feel like you have no control over your life, and that doesn't work for me. I'll take the pain, thank you very much!!!
