Is there any limit of dosage? What is the maximum?
Madopar dosage: Is there any limit of... - Cure Parkinson's
Madopar dosage
If you are comparing it to agonists with their recommendations of maximum dose then it is quite different. We each take the amount of madopar (or sinemet) we need to keep functioning and that is different for each person.
My partner takes Madopar 2 tablets 3 times, a day, and they keep him stable, however on a 6 month check up last week our specialist nurse, has suggested if the tremor gets worse, and he suffers from a fuzzy head, patches could be used. I will say every sufferer has different medication, and various levels to keep going.
Hi skirtybertie, My husband also takes Madopar, he has no tremors but can hardly stand or walk, and falls into a stupor for 2 hours after taking them, anyone who didn't know what was happening would think he'd had a stroke. You also mention a 6 monthly Parkinson's Nurse check up, wow!! we've not seen our Parkinsons nurse in over 2 years. I'm in Bournemouth. Am about to apply to Care Direct for control of mine and my husbands own health expenditure. I already get a small amount to pay for a necessary massage. To manage our own health care I think is the way to go but our council will fight it all the way.
My stress levels are so high I've been diagnosed with stress related migraine (small hallucinatory sessions) not nice so now need acupuncture to bring stress level down or husband will have to go into a care home, hence self funding our own health care.
Thanks Hikoi & skirtybertie! I feel like a drug addict. Every 3-4 hourly, the body demands on Madopar! Well! Enjoy life while we can.
I an on Prolopa 25/100 (The Canadian version of Madopar) and I take three capsules four times a day, plus an extra one at night. This is 1300 of levodopa, a day, which is a high dose, but it is working well worth it. I weigh 230 lbs. I have no side effects/
I take no supplements
