Arthritis in pinky finger

I just met with a hand orthopedic dr. The top joint of my little finger has osteo arthritis. He told me that really the only thing to stop the pain is to fuse the joint. Has anyone done this and felt better or does it cause secondary problems?

Hello dancer, I’ve just come across your post. What a strange situation! If you have osteoarthritis in only one joint, how lucky you are! Here in the UK you would be offered access to a physiotherapist who would prescribe exercises to help, and you would be offered some kind of pain killers or suggestions on how to reduce the pain.

Hello, I have that in the last joint of my pinkie fingers and in the last joint of the middle finger of my right hand. I was told it was from overuse and there isn't much that you can do about it. It started about 3 or 4 years ago, slowly in the right hand. I don't really have that much pain. The middle finger is hurting at times. But I can still show it. 😜Anyway, I refuse to accept the explanation. From overuse In tbe pinkie finger of my right hand?!?! I am lefty too.

I also was told that comes with age.

My idea is that it is some sort of inflammation and possibly could be cured or helped with diet.

Currently I'm looking into what Dr Brooke Goldner has to say.

Unfortunately I wasn't strong enough yet to follow her diet. But I am hanging in there. I will update, if you are interested.
