Has anyone heard a positive parvo virus (fifth disease) can cause RA. Been working with pediatrics and been very healthy. Hardly a sick day. I am an RN and work with children. Just wondering.

Yes, that is how I got RA. I was sixteen when I was diagnosed with Parvo. The RA symptoms started shortly after. Unfortunately when the Parvo went away, the RA did not. I'm now 38.

I always wondered if that was how mine started, had all the symptoms of parvo, never fully recovered. That was 6 yrs. ago, was diagnosed with RA 2,weeks later.

My mother had RA and I do too. We both got it in our early 40's. I think it's hereditary. However before I stopped the Orencia due to remission I had a breakout of the stomatitis virus. I still have dry eyes and mouth but no more pain and swelling of joints or rather much less. Still take my methotrexate tabs 3 per week and cymbalta I have no swelling of my joints. Interesting My dr says it's the 3 years of monthly Orencia infusions. I tend to agree that's what put it in remission I did have painful and weak knees when I was younger and fatigued easily which everyone just thought I was lazy
