The 5 minutes warm up should be sufficient to get you ready for your run if it's a 'Brisk' walk.Some (Including myself) prefer to also do the 'Dynamic' warm up excercises that are referred to in the program guide .
If you are going to include pre run excercises though it's important that they are 'Dynamic' and not the 'Static' stretches that you would do post run .

The important thing is to do dynamic stretching pre run and static stretching post run.
