I’m over my strop ...

Haven’t been on here for a while.

In all honesty I was deliberately avoiding it.

Why?

I did my 6th consolidation run two weeks ago ... it was really tough, my slowest time ever & I had a massive strop afterwards. Like a real proper teenage tantrum ... I’m 48 (& a half!). I totally felt like I was failing at everything. I used to swim every day, but haven’t for about a month as it’s so cold at the moment (winter here in Malawi), trying to lose half a stone & can’t get my head into the right mind set, normally do yoga every day & am down to a measly once a week ...

BUT ... I went for a run tonight, spurred on & cheered on by my husband & our dog Chokka. I only did 3km’s ... but that’s OK right?

It was also a real mind over matter thing ... can’t say I enjoyed it, but I loved the sense of achievement afterwards.

Fingers crossed I’m back on the proverbial treadmill!!

Haha, glad your over your strop ! 😁

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself and well done for getting out there and doing 3K.

It's 3K more than sitting on the couch 😁👍

Thank you.

Yes I think I’ve found it tough not having a set goal to aim for .. I think we all make so many decisions all day long that sometimes it’s nice just to be told what to do & get on with it!

Someone else on here suggested that I should set myself some mini-easily-achievable goals ... I should have done that. I will.

Yep! And don't forget you are getting out there. You did that. Sometimes its best to focus on what you did do as opposed to what you should hsve/could have! Don't forget it's supposed to be enjoyable!! Whenever I go back to thst I run happier!!

Go you... strops are useful sometimes... and they clear the air wonderfully for the next runs:)

I've just looked up the weather in Blantyre, Malawi.

Max 27°C, Min 16°C. Everything's relative, I suppose. 😉

In Manchester UK today, in late summer, it's been 20°C max, is currently 14°C, and is hammering down with wind-blown rain.

Wow ... I’m amazed it said that!

It gets down to about 8’C at night. I’ve got 2 duvets in my bed!

I think I’d turn into an iceberg if I got into the pool!
