week 3 of consolidation - pinged my calf muscle - gutted 😢

I've loved the C25k and have been running 5k on most of my consolidation runs and keeping things nice and slow. I haven't been pushing myself or trying to speed up.

This morning I was 30 minutes into my run, nice and steady, really enjoying it. And then my right calf made a pop and a twang - I literally heard it. Had to stop and hobble home. Have been resting it and applying ice today. I'll be absolutely gutted if I can't run for several weeks and have to start all over again... 😰

Oh dear, that sounds painful! I had something similar doing my C25K and a physio said I had a ‘little’ tear in the muscle- and it put me out of running for 6 weeks! So do be careful with your injury and don’t rush to get back to running too soon - if it doesn’t get better with icing and stretching, you might want to consider an appointment with a physio to give you some advice . Hope you heal soon!

I'm sorry to hear that, wishing you a smooth recovery. Don't try coming back to running too fast, you are in it for the long haul. You can always do some Pilates or other exercise, which will help your overall running while you get your calf better. If not well improved in a couple of days, do seek professional advice!

thanks, scotdee, I will try and restrain myself from running again too soon. You are right, I have the rest of my life to run and a couple of weeks off now is nothing in the scheme of things x
