Running in India

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of running in India? I am due to travel there next week to do some volunteering and will be halfway through week 6. I want to carry on as much as I can as I'm away for 2 weeks. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Wow, that's brilliant. No advice about running there as I was not a runner when I went on holiday there back in 2006, feels like a lifetime ago. Probably best to get some advice locally when you are there so you're not running straight into danger - remember the wildlife there can be a bit more fearsome than here in the UK! It's a beautiful country, we only saw a tiny fraction of it and I would love to go back some day. Enjoy!

Where are you going, Knittynut ? I ran when I was in New Delhi and there were loads and loads of people running in the park! In fact, I met with one of our C25K buddies (she is no longer on this forum, I don't think) but that was one of the highlights of my running journey, going all that way and running with a new friend I'd made via C25K :)

I've been to other places and didn't see people flashing the lycra :D but I also ran in Mumbai where it seemed acceptable. Check with whoever you are staying or working with before you go as I'm sure they will have the best advice.

I hope you have a wonderful time!

Thanks - I’m starting and ending in New Delhi then going to other places in between. Will definitely be running now!

Fantastic! I've just looked up my run, and it was round the Lodhi Garden. Garmin tells me that at 6am it was a pleasant 26C :D
