My next run is week 3 run 1. I’ve been making my 3 year old retriever do the first two weeks with me. He loves it. Although I thought I was running at a reasonable pace and when I looked down he was barely trotting beside me - he’s got 4 legs so bound to be easier - that’s my rationale anyway.
Does anyone else run with their dog? Is there anything I should worry about? He’s used to long walks and I think he could run for ever but figured the way C25k builds slowly would be good to get his fitness up too?

The Google in my screen name is my dog. In more than seven years of running, I've not done more than a few without her (and that was horrible, because she was ill)
She has a charming habit when I attempt to speed up of going "Oh, right, we're *running* now are we?" and zooming off.
An adult and not seriously unfit dog should be fine for what we do here. I feel if you are running somewhere the dog needs to be on a lead, a harness and bungee waist lead is healthier and safer for both human and canine runners.
My dicky bag (for carrying new and used poo bags) and treat bag are standard kit for my runs.
I ran with my bearded collie last night for the first time, and will do every run with her from now on. I loved it and she was my pace setter, she kept me going when I might otherwise have walked for a bit - I’m officially on week 6 run 1 but I thought I’d try a 40 minute run on a circular route I’ve never done before. Which was a bit mad...i didn’t even take my phone so it wasnt really C25K, just held her lead and poo bags up my sleeve (unused!!). Am aching this morning but without the dog I’msure I’d have walked at least some of it, and not had that amazing feeling of achievement that I got afterwards!
