Lead legs!

Hi.. i’m a 49yr old diabetic who is having severe trouble with stiff calves whilst jogging (walking is fine)... within 30secs of jogging my calves just turn to lead even after warm up & stretching. I’m now in week 6 & even tho i’m told it’ll get “easier” they feel the same as week 1, day 1. Any advice/tips greatly appreciated.

You're doing amazing. I had this. I was suggested to try Japanese slow jogging (videos on utube) and calf extensions on the stairs. It's worked and no pain for 3 runs now. I run very slowly and mindfully with a spongey low midfoot strike focusing on different muscle groups as I go. I take care not to over stride and land in line with shoulders as per the advice. A massage from NY partner helped too. Good luck and keep going!

Hreat tips! I’ll look into calf extensions on stairs (better at home than at a gym)!

I’ll also check out the Japanese slow jogging.. appreciate the feedback as I’m determined to complete the Couch to 5k.
