Worth getting out of bed for

Well, I surprised myself, not so much that I completed my graduation run but more that I actually enjoyed it! I had read that you have to be up really early to run in Florence not only because of the heat but also because of the crowds. On my last morning here I finally managed to get up and out at 6.40, wondering if even that might be too late. Five days since my previous run and really not in the mood - until I started running and thought hey, this is OK.

Normally I enjoy a run AFTER I’ve done it and know I’ve succeeded but this time - maybe because it was cooler - I was back nearer my previous pace (having slowed down a LOT since week 6) and I was pretty comfortable. Even kept going to 36 mins - I’ve done the sums, it’s within the ten percent rule ;) - which gave me my first ever all-run 5k as well.

From the Duomo, down to Ponte Vecchio, along the Arno River and into the nice shady park at Le Cascine. Nice farewell to Florence: now to pack my bags and head off to Assisi on the next stage of my trip.
