I mix up my runs between outside and treadmill depending on weather, light and whether I want to watch some TV 🙈So I’d say yes

I did a few weeks on a treadmill and hated the prospect of people seeing me... do one treadmill run a week due to having childcare at the gym... rest of the time I am on the streets... Good luck with it 😘

The benefit I find on the treadmill is the consistent pace you go at... but on the street my pace is all over the place x

Do you think it’s ok to go on the tred mill? As I find it easier than running normally outside and don’t really have the time to go gym and running aswell x

Yes absolutely! I'm not the 1st to do the whole progamme on the treadmill and you wont be the last. There's a number of reasons people choose the treadmill over outside, they are both different experiences, but make no mistake they are both running.

Just set the incline at minimum 1% to help mimic outside conditions. Find your brisk walking pace, and then for your run, notch it up 1kmph and see how that goes. You might need to slow down a little, but you might find your fine to speed up. Whatever you do, make sure it's a sustainable pace (a pace you will be able to keep up till the end of your run). Don't go fast for the sake of it or you put yourself at risk of injury.

A lot of people say they find the transition of treadmill to outside challenging which might be the case for you as you say you find the treadmill a bit easier. I didn't really find this the case and found I was actually faster outside, which just proves how different everyone is - but saying this, it certainly is a completely different experience outside v. gyming it! I would say the treadmill is kinder to your knees and ankles. But you can also get very hot on it doing long distances, so try to wear sports wear with lots of ventilation.

There is the 'bore' factor of course. There is more distraction outside. But I like my treadmill time, I find it meditative. If it gets too much though, try podcasts or some different music to break things up.

Are you thinking of starting soon? Do let us all know how you get along.

This is amazing advice ! Thank you! I’ve already done my first run outside and did my second on the tred mill ! I much prefer it on the tred mill and I do have it on a high speed so it’s a high. Intensity. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply x

Your focus is not so much speed at this stage! Just the action of running. But well done, keep going and keep us posted

I mix it up. If it’s raining I’m afraid of falling so go to the gym. I definitely go faster in the gym. I listen to podcasts so it isn’t boring.
