Well here we are at week 5 of the new Quest πŸ•ΊπŸ½. we are nearly there now!!! How are you all doing?

I decided to call it this as we have experienced a lot of rain in the UK this Summer....!!! Some people love to run in the rain ( me!!!) and others don't... I think running in the rain can mean so many things: Having fun, enjoying nature, running through stormy times in our lives and also the chance to embrace something different to what we are used to. So I would encourage you to use this quest to go outside of your boundaries and try something different. Or if you are struggling, use it to re- energise your running journey and refresh your goals.

Welcome to Week 1... πŸ•ΆπŸŒ‚

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks.

You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put:

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.

Good Luck everybody !

I would love to join the quest

I would like to run the 5k distance a little bit quicker even if it's a minute quicker xx

Anything quicker counts! Good luck with it - let us know how it goes :)

It says something that I really struggle to remember what I have done at the moment. However, it appears that it has been something of a reversal of last week - no runs (a walk with loved ones bumps a run), but I do love September (even though this one is terrifying) and have had a morning yoga session every day of the new month so far.

Morning yoga is great, as is a walk with loved ones. These are good things. Wishing you luck with September and hoping it's more beautiful than terrifying.

I've just looked back at my goals for this Quest, and it ain't looking pretty :(

I said I wanted to run round Carsington (why? Why would I say that?), to get back up to 16k (really??) and to do some running tourism (phew!); also that I wanted to do some other form of exercise.

If next week is the last week of this Quest, and I am away next week, the pressure is on. In theory, I have a 17k run next week, on the last day of the Quest. Is that leaving it a bit late, do you think?

If I am away next week, guess what that leaves for this week. Yep, Carsington. Oo-er.

However, last week I managed my 3 runs, one of which was the Spitfire 10k at Cosford airfield, where I got to run down the runway. It was fab and the bling was amazing :)

I ain't likin' this!

But definitely last day of the Quest counts. And your Spitfire 10K was fab.

I am saying nothing about Carsington.

Tomorrow. It's going to have to be early tomorrow morning. I have a planned shoulder injection tomorrow afternoon (aaargh!) so I'm guessing Thursday might be a bit uncomfy.

Think of me :(

I shall. Will probably have plenty of time if usual wait lengths at oncology continue...

Pah. Hope the queue is shorter than usual.

I had planned to get in a run early this morning to clear my head before taking my eldest for his first day at school (I was a total mess, managed to get to the gate after leaving him before I blubbed my heart out) but at 05.15 when the alarm went off the rain was pelting it down. I don't mean a drizzle it was full on pounding it out there so I debated it for 5 mins before rolling over and going back to sleep! I did however get in a 20 minute HIIT whilst little one had a nap. So not a total failure of a day. Aim to run tomorrow instead. Happy running 😘

Two runs this week. A quickish 5k+(forgot to start Strava til over halfway) but ran for just over 40 mins and a 33 min run 4.2k in the park where I did most of my c25k..I prefer my routes now to going round and round the park😊

Well, I certainly claim my certificate for this Quest. Today I ticked off item two with my first 10K run. I did say that it would be my only one, but I would certainly do this one again although I am not sure about anything hillier.

I put a detailed report on the Bridge to 10K forum, but in summary the course was better than I expected, we started off in rain but finished in sunshine. And my time was 1 hour, 13 minutes and 27 seconds. And I am feeling pretty pleased with myself.

Well... after a delayed start to the week I've got in 2 runs. Today's pace being an average of 11.31 over 5k! Fastest yet.
