Well here we are at week 3 of the new Quest πΊπ½. How are you all doing?
I decided to call it this as we have experienced a lot of rain in the UK this Summer....!!! Some people love to run in the rain ( me!!!) and others don't... I think running in the rain can mean so many things: Having fun, enjoying nature, running through stormy times in our lives and also the chance to embrace something different to what we are used to. So I would encourage you to use this quest to go outside of your boundaries and try something different. Or if you are struggling, use it to re- energise your running journey and refresh your goals.
Welcome to Week 1... πΆπ
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks.
You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put:
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.
Good Luck everybody !

Funny old week spent trying to swim through treacle recovering from a short but busy trip. I was pretty thrilled to get out for a run and absolutely the rain did not matter at all, if anything it kept me comfortable (although I was an eejit and took my windproof cycling jacket which of course was worse than useless after the warm up walk).
I didn't make it out twice because of not having the car for a while... could have done what most people do and run from the house but didn't feel my body was up to the hard surfaces. Felt a definite need for yoga stretches and managed 3 and a half times (don't ask about the half!) with candles and everything, nice. None of the other fitness activities, and I anticipate, at least until next weekend, that's the way it will stay as another short sharp trip booked mid-week.
Also got some exercise pulling up all my blighted tomatoes, so the wet weather's not all good.
Glad I am not a subsistence farmer, and that this is just a very middle class form of gambling. I had some nice varieties not in the shops. I have a steep garden so going up and down the steps is quite challenging (we have been known to drive to put things in the shed!!!)
It wasn't intentional, I'm still suffering side effects from some prescription drugs, one of them is my brain just isn't working properly - I forget stuff all the time. In this case I forgot to plan, and I also forgot what 'd done on the previous runs...

I returned to Conkers - which was my first parkrun - to do my 25th. All I wanted to do was beat my time of 41 minutes but I got an all time pb of 34.31, despite being near the back before the start and taking about 44 seconds (apparently) before the crowd thinned out and being able to start running.
I also managed to run up Cheeky Hill this year, it was not as steep or as long as I remembered it.
1 - to run 2/3 times a week - went out twice (repeating wk 5 runs 1 and 2)
2 - to do at least 2 more parkruns - was talk walker at my local park run on Saturday
3 - to do physio exercises/yoga on 2 or 3 days - did everything on 1 day and just physio exercises on another - so I've kind of achieved that one.
All in all - a good week (although I did have to take my new running shoes back as having worn them around the house, even with playing with lacing styles, they were still too tight ) - about to go on hols for a few days, though, so it could all change!!!
It's a shame - they were really comfy for the first 5 minutes of wearing!! I have a couple of running shops earmarked for a visit during my hols, just in case!?! π
Had a terrible run during my lunch break Tuesday. No idea what was wrong with me it was just so hard and I gave up just after 4km and 26 mins (normally run for 35 mins on my lunch break treadmill runs) aiming to get out tomorrow morning early doors but will see how I feel. Rather disheartened after Tuesday to be honest
So I did it. Even tho I felt fed up after my run Tuesday and having maintained my weight for about a month now and with only wanting to lose another 6-11lbs, it's very frustrating. I dragged myself up at 5.15am and went for a nice 3 miles. Feeling loads better for it, glad I haven't given in and glad I got back out there and had a successful run.
