Hated every minute of tonight's run . Ran for 25 min but didn't even manage 3 K . Feeling defeated .
WK7R2: Hated every minute of tonight's run . Ran... - Couch to 5K
WK7R2
This is all about the time, not about the distance. You got out there (on a boiling hot muggy day, yuk) and managed to keep going for 25 mins! That is brilliant and you probably wouldn't have been able to do that six weeks ago....
I went out for W7R3 this evening and found I didn't cover anything like the distance I did earlier in the week. But I did run for 25 mins and it was just too hot to go faster! Chin up, it really is ok!
I never achieve 3k and I'm on w9 i.e., 30 mins. I suggest: Forget the distance, forget so-called achievement. Aim for a pleasurable walk with pleasurable jogging at a speed that feels comfy. Walk if you need to. Make it miserable and you won't want to do it. Being out there and moving - to nice music? Radio? The sound of birdsong? - that's ALL you have to do (in my opinion! ) ❤️
You just ran for 25 mins , that sounds like something to celebrate. Could you do that in week 1? Speed and distance will come, give yourself a pat on the back for building up your stamina!
Thank you guys , feel a little better
Stop knocking yourself! And just do the time! great achievement! Onwards and upwards!😊
Congrats👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Having completed W7R2, you have now run a total of 275 minutes ( more if you repeated any runs). Only one more run and you will pass the 300 mile stone. I personally think that deserves some serious cyber bling🥇🥇🥇🥇
Like everyone is saying, don't even record your distances at this point, that will come later.
Just a thought though, what were you using to record it? I only ask because I always wore a Fitbit ( pre running) and it told me I was running xxkm but it had no gp, was just working on my stride length. It turned out to be quite accurate when I walked but was underestimating when I ran. I never knew. After graduation, I downloaded Strava on my phone to get a proper distance record ( still wearing Fitbit on my wrist). Suddenly, the same run recorded 4.6km on Fitbit but a full 5km on Strava.
Please don't beat yourself up about distance (ie speed) at this point. A slow, sustainable shuffle is far better than a faster pace which you struggle to maintain and makes running a chore and leaves you feeling defeated. It will come I promise, I know because I was there just a few weeks ago.
Celebrate your progress, rest up and move on👏🏼👏🏼🥇🏃🏼♀️😀👍🏼
Wow! You ran for 25 minutes! I've just finished week 4 and i cannot imagine being able to run for 25 whole minutes! Congratulations. That is an amazing achievement 🎉🎉🎉
Forget the distances...just do the run and take it steadily and slowly and enjoy it!
The whole ethos is fun.. and.... a structured build up to thirty minute runs ... and you are nearly there...You ran for 25 minutes
You hated it... So.... slow it up, make sure you are hydrated, warmed up well and relax into these lovely longer runs... start really slowly and build a little to your comfy pace, land lightly, and put a smile back on your face. You are so close...
You ran for 25 minutes on one of the hottest days of the year! A real achievement. Stay hydrated and think about all the people that sat on their sofa's!
How many people do you know who can run a mile non stop?
You may wish to be faster and it may come with time but it is irrelevant to the health benefits gained by running slowly. Read this womensrunning.competitor.co...
As runners we have to accept that we are where we are..........that is the base for moving on. Be proud of your achievement, don't compare yourself to others and develop a positive approach to your running. You are doing great........this is your journey.
Thank you . Think I was a bit disappointed as I've been running the cool down & managing almost 5k ... you are right I should concentrate on the positives . I ran for 25 mins ( very slowly ) even though everything was telling me to quit . Your kind comments & words of wisdom really do help
