Commonwealth games opening ceremony... Each team lead in by a Scottie. BUT NO WESTIES.
Absolutely nothing to do with running, couches or 5k.
Sorry.

Hmm, I say the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games is everything to do with running and and runners. (Although i admit the dugs may not be! ) I don't usually watch games opening ceremonies, but since we're going to Glasgow for the Games this weekend and next, I'm watching this and enjoying it.
I'm really looking forward to watching the Marathon run on the streets of Glasgow on Sunday, and several athletic events on the track on Monday.
Anyone else here on HU going to the Games?
Didn't say I wasn't enjoying it, only that the choice of lead dog lacked the inclusion of, what in my opinion, is Scotland's finest.
i know you didnt say you werent enjoying it and didn't mean to imply that you had. Written communication is not always clear. I'm sure wee westies could have been equally good ambassadors and stars.
All responses were firmly tongue in cheek! No offence taken. Hope the wind is at your back for your next run!!
Westies are much more pleasing on the eye (only my opinion) I can never make up my mind which are the nicer white or black love them both
Are Dandy Dinmonts from Scotland? Oh and then there's the Skye Terriers too, musn't forget them, then there's the Gordon Setters. I'm sure there are loads of Scots dogs who tonight all have their noses out of joint
I enjoyed the ceremony! Good old Rod!!! When they were having trouble getting the top off the torch I half expected the Queen to step in and sort it. She probably keeps a toolset in her handbag.
I'm really looking forward to it!
LOL - have you ever told us if Westie has a name?
Feeling great to be in Scotland - off to see the triathlon today
As a Scottie owner I was delighted to see the Scotties - but did wonder why no Westies. Also noticed that a few were carried! bet they decided they wanted to do something different or had got fed up with waiting, although one could be seen scrabbling to get down.
It would have looked good with both Scottie and Westie together
Perhaps there were supposed to be Westies but they were scrapping....
(I can say that as I do like Westies and find Scotties tend to be a bit lugubrious (would love to meet a joyful one). I am typing this quietly as my Welsh Springer Spaniel is next to me but I like Cairns best)
THEY WERE SWEET LITTLE DOGS EVEN IF THEIR TINY LEGS DID GET TIRED!
My sweet little feller regularly walks 5 miles with me.... And he'd go further if I let him! No excuses! Get those Scotties on Dog to 5k immediately.
HE'S A LITTLE SWEETIE!!
Just caught up on watching the opening ceremony....thought it was very good.....loved the terriers.......my cocker spaniel lounged in her basket watching them all parade around....usually she barks at dogs on the TV, maybe they worked their magic on her!
Just watched the triathlons......fantastic results for Team England.....amazing athletes.
I heard that the terrier for Team Scotland was called Hamish, how appropriate is that for a terrier. Haha my brothers old spaniel (long departed now) was called Bailey, my nieces used to call him Bailey Bags
My parents Scottie is a Hamish and mine is Maggie - both are really funny and upbeat characters and definitely love to run. Both are 9 years old but are always game, especially if rabbits are around.
