can someone give this idiot simple very simple... - Couch to 5K
can someone give this idiot simple very simple instructions on how to transfer data from my garmin to computor, totally lost and frustrated
Oooh! That's being too hard on yourself. You are NOT an idiot. Your life experience just didn't include computers, that's all. I wish I could help you but I do not have a Garmin.
I'm sure somebody will bail you out soon though!
Hello, I'm not a technical whiz but I did manage my own Garmin.
If you connect it to the computer via the USB port you might get a prompt saying you need to download some software to allow the transfer of data. If not, I know from mine you'll need to download Garmin Express and Garmin Connect Software which is online and free. Once these are installed when you plug in your Garmin you should get a prompt saying that your computer has detected the Garmin advice and giving you the option to read data off it using the software on the device. Select this option and go from there.
Hope this helps or that someone more technical comes along soon!
Trying to remember what I did, in what order.... I seem to remember I had to install Garmin Connect first, here's a link:
connect.garmin.com/en-US/st...
I think it pretty much prompted me from there on, at some point I had to plug the Garmin in. Now after every run once I plug the Garmin in via the cable it uploads the data automatically, then all I do is sign into Garmin Connect and there it all is. And no you're not an idiot.
Have you read the 'Get Started' instructions of the Garmin Connect website? bit.ly/1j5umXW
It is quite straightforward once you know what you're doing but a bit complicated to explain without diagrams!
You should have a cable which plugs into a usb socket on the computer and clips onto the Garmin. Sometimes, the connection isn't very good and the computer won't recognise it but just keep fiddling until you see the Garmin 'recharging' symbol on the watch.
Open the Garmin Connect website (you might have to download the software and register if you haven't already. Your device will then be linked to your account which makes everything easier), sign in to your account, click 'Upload' and you'll be re-directed to another page. The device should then be recognised and connect. Click 'Upload new activities'.
Hope this helps - if not, let us know how far you get and if not me, I'm sure someone will try to talk you through it!
thanks peeps will look once I have eaten
all done, thanks everyone, now another question , did I see that it could be linked to map my run or not
From memory, I think once you get onto the garmin connect website there is a list of sites you can link your runs to
