I can only speak from my own experience, and that comes from big knee problems in the past.

I do take Cod LIver Oil capsules, and since I am nearly 50 and have had dodgy knees since my teens (long and tripple jump over-training), I will try anything to help. Since I started on CLO, I have not had any problems. The only other thing I do is to ensure that my knees are kept warm in winter. My right knee makes a horrible noise when I get up from a crouching position, but I have no pain. The local doctor said I should only worry if it starts hurting!

I cannot say whether the CLO is the thing that is helping on physical level, but since I have started on it I have had no problems, and it isn't as noisy!!

Nothing like trying it for a few weeks ~ what harm can it do, unless you are a cod!

I take glucosamide high strength for my joints, and this really helps.

If you are thinking of taking this, shop around as in some stores it is really expensive.

Glucosamine AND fish oils sorted me out, after I had knee pain that was stopping me from going for a walk, never mind running. Apparently there is little scientific evidence that they work, but I would not be without them. I am 57, and when I went to the doctor, a few years ago now, I thought that there was no way back to normal function and this was part of an inevitable age related decline. I run off road, for the most part, to avoid shock on my knees, but apart from mild aches, I have had no problems with my knees since week 5 of C25k. There are some knee strengthening exercises on NHS Choices page.

Good luck.
