Hi, I am in exactly the same situation. I’m sat in hospital now awaiting an echocardiogram to confirm what damage has occurred to my heart. I will then await instructions on medication and lifestyle modification, which hopefully will mean we can continue to live as long and as healthily as possible.Take care

Sending you encouragement as well, Lynne. Heart failure is a scary diagnosis but as I responded above, my sister was able to continue many of her routine activities. She died from something else.

Let us know what you find out. I am going for an Echocardiogram tomorrow so always nice to hear others experiences.

Will do. I’ve been sent home as I was clogging up a much needed bed awaiting the echo. I will now have it as an outpatient.The water tablet I have been given to expel excess water to enable my heart to pump more efficiently. This has actually decreased the fluid in my lungs and I find I can breathe a lot easier. I can lay flatter in my bed & sleep better than I have in months. If this is a side effect, I’m happy with that!

That is definitely good news. Never good when your breathing is impaired so any improvement is god news. Hopefully you get your echo soon.

Sending best wishes, Country65, that your specialist can prescribe a good treatment plan for your new diagnosis. I've had chronic bronchitis for years and been on various meds for that. Often wondered what strain on other organs my compromised lungs have. Hope you'll update us on what you learn from the consultant you'll be seeing.

My older sister lived for years after her heart failure diagnosis. She did take meds for it but I can't recall now what all her treatments included.
