Hi Emily, I was diagnosed with asthma & mild copd in Dec 2016. I was struggling at lot at first, but thinking back, probably a lot had to do with grieving the loss of my husband & dad, 4 months apart. It was 2 months after that that I was in the hospital with trouble breathing, thinking I was dying. As time has passed, I've learned how to take care of me & take steps to improve my health. Walking, excercising & drinking a lot of water has been most helpful. Also, I hope you have a good pulmonary doctor. Glad you joined the group. You're sure to find support, advice & encouragement here. Pls keep us updated as to how you're doing. God bless, Terri
sorry for your loss. Can I ask do you have emphysema and asthma specifically and how do you now cope.
I have pretended all was well with diagnosus but still scared and still struggling to come to terms with it. I don't know if I should push for a scan as never had one just single breath diffusion which checks for emphysima reading on here a scan is best way to check how severe it is
I did have a ct scan in the hospital. I remember having panic attacks too. I've learned to take one day at a time & make good choices to improve my health. I've felt much better physically, mentally & emotionally since then. At first I was so hard on myself for having smoked but have come to realize that we can't undo what was in the past, but rather go forward. I trust that God will walk along side me as this journey continues. Having a good pulmonary dr is so very important. Hope yours listens to your concerns. My 1st one didn't & now I'm thankful I started going to one that has my best interest first. Hope this is helpful to you.
What stage are you
I was told I have mild copd. At whatever point we begin, it's so important to do whatever works to reduce stress, like walking or exercising. It's a process. It doesn't happen overnight, but if we just do the next thing that is helpful, that's a big plus.
Sorry logged off by accident
