That does sound difficult Lowther. I quite often get my shoes and boots made for me at Green Shoes, Totnes in Devon. They have a fantastic range of leathers, some butter soft, some firm and all sorts of colours and textures. Getting samples or visiting their shop is a real treat. You can also choose different styles and different soles etc. I love the natural crepe rubber because it's very springy to walk on but it can be a bit heavy. It wears out after a few years but they will resole them so they last indefinatly. Dr Alice Roberts, the tv presenter on Coast had a beautiful pair of long emerald green lace up boots made there that I loved. They can work by post and do incoporate any medical things that are necessary and I've always found them great to work with. They even do make your own workshops there, but I feel my fingers wouldn't be up to that. see greenshoes.co.uk also conker shoes do them too in totnes town & they're also nice. You could have a bag made up to match too! I hope that helps.

I have been living in Hotter shoes and boots for the last few years; most of their styles are offered in Extra Wide, and some in Extra Extra Wide. Depends what you mean by 'stylish' – alas, I don't think CMT and really stylish shoes can be mentioned in the same sentence!
