Hi I'm new here, my husband is 45 and has CMT he has a lot of problems with pain but I've noticed that he is getting a lot of pain when he sneezes? He says it's in his chest and in his upper back, I thought to start with he had pulled a muscle but this has now been going on for over a year, does anyone else have this problem or should I be making him go to the doctors? His doctor though very nice is not very clued up when it comes to CMT and we just tend to put any new pain problems down to his CMT when it might not be, would be very grateful of anybody's thoughts on this x x

Find a good chiropractor. At a guess, he’s been adjusting/compensating for the loss of feeling in his legs... this causes the rest of the framework to go out, which has resulted in things being jammed up the spine - and hence the pain.
The whole “not knowing where the heck your feet are in space” causes jarring. My guess is he’s feeling it in his chest because that’s where he has feeling etc. I think it’s probably symptomatic
I think it might be a good idea to do a sleep study, to rule out that his phrenic nerve isn't affected, I found it was my phrenic nerve, the phrenic nerve cause the diaphragm to not work also, so that could cause the pain... just a thought
