KNEE HYPER EXTENSION
Yep, my knees tend to give way backwards. A physio suggested when I am standing, bend knee's slightly. Also I do leg press at the gym and thinks thats helping.
Thanks for the tips,I am still working although walking like a reject from river dance can this condition be surgically repaired
Yes also have with regular patella dislocation - just try and do strengthening exercises to quads and again when standing try and not fully extend the leg.
have had this for years and no surgery does not help believe me just makes it worse I have had various ops over the years starting with tendons shortened and putting in pins, removal of kneecap and total knee replacement and I can honestly say it is worse now than what it ever has been. I wear a knee brace and that seems to help best
very informative thankyou
In light of the great info, what is the best knee brace for this condition
I have major hyper extension in my knees which has worsened with age. As above, exercise helps but only in terms of a general strengthening. By way of my neurologist I was referred to a rehab consultant and then onto an orthotist. No knee brace just plain plastic AFO's, have helped the little bit of foot drop but more so the knee flick.
I dont know what your local services are like but if you can get referred to a rehab consultant he/she will discuss what's best for you (as we're all different to some degree) Seeing a physio and orthotist in tandem was the best thing that ever happened to me with regards to this.
