Hi Marisa. Sorry you have a sore throat. If it is due to a bacterial infection, hopefully, the Penicillin will clear it. If it gets worse then I would suggest going back to your GP for further help.

I can't think of any reason not to go for your scans next week - is there some reason that makes you think you shouldn't?

I am not a medic and if you're unsure, I'd always urge you to seek proper medical advice.

I hope you feel better soon.

Wishing you well

What kind of scans?

I am sure your scans are important . If you are worried you cold wear a mask to avoid the risk of spreading your germs. Unlikely you will meet may people while having a scan so you should not worry

Am having a CT Urogram and ultrasound Neck and Thyroid. (Hosp are wanting to check that I have no rogue thyroid cancer cells in my system).

Had been on erythromycin for sore throat but it was making me unwell so changed to penicillin. Have noticed tonight that my throat is not so sore. Am very happy. I wondered that if by going to the hospital with an infection, whetherI just might pick something else up and whether I would be more vulnerable. I think that if the neck lymph glands are infected it is quite dangerous. Is this so? Why?

Hi, I too have suffered with a sore throat on several occasions. My GP is usually happy to prescribe antibiotics but I have found they don't always help. However the best thing I have found is to gargle with soluble aspirin twice or 3 times a day. It is very soothing and lessens the pain. Hope this is of some use.

Marisa...call the hospital department doing the scans and ask what they recommend you do.
