I had blood's taken for testing this morning. My macmillan nurse called this afternoon to say that Dr Sidra my haematologist has looked at the results and my Lymphocytes are very low. I have to go to the hospital pharmacy tomorrow to pick up injections to administer to my stomach area. Also not to go to work due to risk of infection. Pretty disappointed after just getting back Into work. Dr Sidra is calling me in the morning. Love and strength to all.

Seems to me that you are being prescribed filgrastim, neulasta, neupogen, perfilgrastim, zarzio, or some other G-CSF injection to boost your neutrophils to reduce your risk of infection. You want to see a low lymphocyte count from CLL treatment :) it's great that you can confirm this with your haematologist very soon

It's good to see that your health is being well monitored. Those G-CSF shots should work fairly quickly, but expect more blood testing to confirm this. Meanwhile, check out the section on how to safely live with severe neutropenia towards the end of this post healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I hope you are safely soon back at work, but as I expect it's particularly busy right now, keeping clear of customers and colleagues who could pass on infections is what's best.

You beat me to it Neil. I was initially puzzled about injections for a ‘low lymphocyte count’ particularly as Jack said it was 2.5 last blood draw.

Hope things work out well Jack. After your latest accident and other health issues, it sounds like you need some time away from work for a bit of a rest and especially so if you’re neutropenic.

Makes perfect sense. Neutropenia is a common side effect of all CLL treatments. The usual approach is to either stop or reduce the treatment dose and wait for your bone marrow to recover, helping it along with G-CSF shots when the neutropenia is severe enough. The hypodermic needle is small and very fine, so the injections are usually painless other than the rare occasion when you accidentally find a nerve, when it might sting for a while afterwards.

Enjoy your break from work and take the opportunity to recover your health.

Thanks. I had to have these shots some years ago so know what to expect.

They're taking good care of you which is encouraging. Stay safe, you're definitely best to be out of the workplace this time of year.

It only took 2 neupogen injections to get my blood counts to come up, and I only had that one spell of low neutrophils. That was 9 years ago after I had been on ibrutinib for about 3 months. Nine years later, I'm on a drug holiday ... W&W ... my doctor says, "Enjoy life!"

You can do this! A few injections and the story might be a lot better.

Look after yourself. Sending you best wishes,

Hi. Suffering with extreme fatigue and pain at the moment. This is the worse I can remember. I have 2 more injections left - administering every 2 days. Had bloods taken yesterday so waiting for the results. Best wishes.
