Hi All, was diagnosed 2018, and on watch and wait, I had my four monthly monitoring, 4 weeks ago, and all was ok.

I had my first proper night sweat last night, and wondered if this was the start of them, leading to treatment. Any idea's anyone. Thanks Ron

Hey! Night sweats are common... and this cold be the start for you. They vary - from scalp face and neck with a damp pillow to the full drench and replace night clothes and sheets affair. Could be intermittent at the start - becoming more persistent. I had light and intermittent night sweats pre chemo. - After chemo nil in remission.

I would say treatment is not started on the basis of night sweats alone! Given CLL is a progressive condition - may just indicate your are on the way. Your Haem Consultant will always ask you about B symptoms on your regular reviews.

As this is your first - how are you? How do you feel? Check your temperature - just in case you may have an infection of some sort - for they too cause night sweats. Other non CLL causes exist - and so it would always be worth your family Dr check you out.

I am never sure what constitutes a night sweat in respect of a CLL B-symptom. I have had single or small groups of waking up with damp night clothes front and/or back for as long as I can remember. I have had two occasions I can recall where I needed to change my night clothes but generally it is limited. So far I have talked to my GP about them but never mentioned them to my consultant. If I started to get regular heavy sweats then I would certainly to report it. I have been in W&W since 2012 with a steady progression of lymphocyte count double every two years or so.

I hope for you that it is an isolated event for a long time. I've had night sweats for years long before diagnosis so I can't even imagine how much worse it may get now as my CLL progresses.

Thanks Neblinose, I will mention it to my Haemo when next we meet. It is good that we can sound each other out on matters like this, which is what I like about this site. All the best

Perhaps a re-do on labs would be in order. Also be aware that night sweats are a potential symptom of the Omicron variant. Might be worth a test, if you have any other symptoms develop. I hope it is just a one-off incident.
