Sores in throat with Ibrutinib

Hi all,

This is my first post. I have CLL and non-Hodgkins MALT lymphoma. I have been on Ibrutinib since July 2019, no treatment of any kind before then. I do get some small mouth sores that look like little blood blisters, but deal with them with salt water rinse, but in the last month or so when I wake up in the morning I spit up blood, not every night, maybe once a week or so, am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I did read that the Ibrutinib can cause mouth and throat sores but my nurse practitioner had not heard of the throat issue, otherwise am doing fine on the medicine. Thank you for any thoughts on this.

Norah

I had esophagus ulcers from acid due to imbruvica, and it turned out to be dangerous, I ended up with sepsis infection. I never spit up blood. What to do? I took prontonix and carafate and stopped imbruvica, and switched medication. I don't know if your "throat sores" issues are similarly caused , but you need to watch for fever as the symptom of infection and get help from your doctor if it happens. The only time I have blood in mouth is with flossing sometimes if it is not done carefully
