Hi Robbob. I’m in the middle of BR - just had my 4th cycle. Before I started I asked the same question so to an either click on my name and read my posts and responses, or do a search. So many others have posted good information.

Essentially what I learned was that everyone is different. I have found that receiving the BR is the easy part and I feel relatively well those days. Day three I feel off - my midsection feels very full and inflamed - but I have SLL and the bulk of my enlarged nodes are there.

The following few days are not pleasant - vertigo, whoozy, shakey. I mostly lie on the couch and watch the tv. It’s hard to eat or drink.

After that it gets better and better. I go back to work (3 days a week) and manage this well. My energy increases. Life goes back to “normal“.

My peripheral nodes all melted away with the first round. I’m awaiting a CT to see how the nodes in my midsection have responded.

Some have reported never feeling a thing, nor missing any work. Others have reported reactions to the rituxamab but that is rare. The vast majority of people do very well.

Feel free to message me through HealthUnlocked. I’m happy to chat any time.

Robbob71, I am a 69 y/o female that completed BR 6 months ago. It was reasonably easy for me. I work a full time job and did not miss work because of the treatment. Actually had very little as far as side effects. Did struggle with the steroids though and had them cut back as they created sleep issues and constipation after each treatment but miralax fixed that issue.

I hope your treatment is as easy as mine was and please feel free to reach out if you want to chat.

Hello Robbob71

I am 71 as well and completed all 6 courses of B+R first of last April. You can also check my posts as well to see my progression and side effects. My WBC dropped from 197K to 18K in 10 days after first B+R treatment. I feel great. Blessings.

Robbob71, I did B & R 4 years ago. I was expecting the worse but it was relatively easy for me. I am retired from the corporate world, and now for something to do, I drive school bus. I scheduled by infusions in the five hour break between busing times. I was able to drive my bus in the afternoon after each infusion. I realize everybody is different, but I had no problems whatsoever. Other than periodic bouts of fatigue, my blood numbers have been good for the last 4 years. I was also diagnosed as 17P. I recently changed oncologists to a CLL specialist in my area. I wanted to establish a relationship with him before the shoe drops for my next round of treatment. Good luck with your treatment.
